YOUR RETREAT EXPERIENCE
-
We begin our mornings slow and spacious with nothing on the agenda other than self-inquiry — writing our morning pages to be exact (for those unfamiliar, it’s 3-pages worth of stream of conscious journaling).
Pour a morning mug of coffee and cozy up a sofa by the fireplace or feel the salty sea-filled breeze on your skin in the open-aired gardens. Maybe you prefer staying in bed. All answers are the right answers when it comes to Morning Pages. The mornings are yours for the taking.
-
Our first collective group gathering of the day will be meditation and movement — daily immersive and musically driven yogic-based movement sessions, coupled with meditation and journal prompts led by Mindy of Liberté.
Curated around the principles of listening, let silence become your expansive friend, widening your capacity to sit in stillness and embrace the power of a sacred pause. Equally, find comfort (ahem, flow) in letting the deliciously soulful music guide the sequencing of how we move. Out of head and into body — sync your breath and body as one and invite in presence, curiosity, openness for your muse to take center stage.
-
Listening is not a passive activity — it’s the most active thing you can do.
During this workshop, we sharpen our listening skills by dissecting musicality in its many forms. Music is universal in its art form and nuanced in approach. We want to explore the nuance — we want to explore the nuance of musicality as it relates to movement, expression, feeling, and healing. By understanding the ebbs and flows of music, and its relationship to self-exploration, we heighten our ability to listen, with the ultimate goal of heightening the connection to self.
At the very least, you’ll walk away knowing how to curate a damn good playlist. Music theory, but make it modern.
-
As a lover of The Artist’s Way course and all its creative wisdom, we felt the need to include the second basic principle (and fundamental practice) of The Artist’s Way: The Artist Date (uninterrupted personal creative time). In order to have a real relationship with your muse (remember, that’s you!), we must take the time to care for and cultivate her. Our creative impusles will use this time to confront us, confide in us, to bond with us.
You will have dedicated time to make room in your life for an Artist Date — with the support, guidance, and accountability of the collective creative group, you will be moved into inspired action with your creative endeavors (writing, dancing, painting, photography…anything)
The only rule is: no phones/screens/distractions allowed. Everything else is fair game. Go wild.
-
To find your inner muse, you must learn to listen to her, even when her voice is soft and faint — let whispers turn to roars during our co-creative movement sessions.
Reminiscent of solo time in dance studio or self-guided yoga practices — or maybe as far back as spinning in circles in the privacy of your childhood bedroom — we will use music as the vehicle to let ourselves listen, express, emote and move.
Be prepared to create your own song and dance, as this experience is fully guided by you.
-
Part of the discovery process starts with letting yourself dedicate time to….get a little lost. We celebrate this (often resistant) part of the process. Get a little lost in time — letting minutes turn to hours, the nebulous grey space of time will lead you back home. During this retreat, you will have intentional time and find yourself again. In both individual and group sessions, we explore….space, time, and uninterrupted creative freedom.
Prefer to create with others? Let your imagination run wild with fellow retreat guests — experience the moments of co-created magic and serendipity evitably will arise when surrounded by inspiring, curious, and like-minded people. With Mindy as your guide, there will be support, on support, leading to deeper caverns of exploration, just waiting to be discovered.
-
The human experience is meant to be shared. Connect with others, just like you — together walking alongside the process of rediscovery of self (musings, movement, and creation). Or, if you’re noticing you need to restore the inner well of personal reserves, take solitude in rest. Tend to do nothing, if that’s what you need.
The retreat downtime is for you to restore what may be lacking in your life: whether it be connection, community, rest, or restoration.
-
At CASA COLAB, logistics are handled for you, leaving more room for inspiration instead of fretting over the details. Your stay at CASA COLAB includes all amenities for you to use, including group gathering spaces (with fireplaces!), meditation rooms, indoor movement studio, outdoor yoga studio, swimming pool, tennis court, outdoor BBQ patios, and the entirety of the property’s lush gardens. With just a quick jaunt to the ocean, there is no shortage of beautiful, serene, and breathtaking locations to venture off to.
And your meals? They’re also included — all food (breakfast, lunch, dinner) will be prepared by CASA COLAB’S private onsite chef. Sourced ingredients are local, organic, and seasonal and the menu is hand-selected and curated with you in mind. Coffee, tea, and afternoon snacks will be plentiful and outdoor family-style dinners will be the anchor of evening community gathering. The best conversations happen around a dinner table. Dig in.

“What did you do as a child that made hours pass like minutes?
Herein lies the key to your earthly pursuit.”
— CARL JUNG
THE WHY
I danced.
When I reminisce about who I was as a little girl — I danced — often, innocently, whimsically, and very clumsily. Graceful wasn’t necessarily a part of my vocabulary, but I didn’t mind. I danced solely because it felt good (not to be confused with ‘being good’). ‘Good’ was another word unfamiliar to my vocabulary— dancing was a means to an end for self-expression. More importantly, dancing taught me how to listen and respond. Feel and act accordingly.
Overtime, I forgot to dance.
What started as twirling in circles barefoot in my childhood bedroom, caught somewhere between my imagination and the Grease soundtrack playing in the background turned into shuffle-ball-changes with other leotard-clad little girls (and boys) in mirrored-lined studio rooms. Bare and unassuming studios— empty and wide, yet detailed in taping ‘formation spots’ on the ground —is where I first learned the art of discipline, dedication, practice, and teamwork. Sweat. Tears. Community. Comfort. Love. Home. Inside of dance studios was also where I first forged a relationship with perfectionism, judgment, and an inner critic of ‘right’, ‘wrong’ and ‘critical error’. Failure or praise. Like most childhood interests, the joy of creative expression (movement) slowly melted into training, work, performance, and accolades more than it did freedom and joy. Some of my fondest memories come from the inside of dance studios. Also some of my worst. Movement through the lens of perfection has followed me ever since — into collegiate-level dance studios, professional performances, hot yoga rooms (where even mindfulness can reap toxic benefits), fitness studios, and the occasional adult-level dance class.
Until I remembered to dance again.
It has taken decades to stumble my way back to the innate love for movement and even longer to allow myself to express freely without the filter of wounding, judgment, and comparison. Unraveling the complex and nuanced relationship I share with movement may be a lifelong process. However, I can’t deny the pure love I share for the art form paired with the multitude of lessons learned and dedication to nuanced listening that has shaped how I view and process the world. Moving without a pretense to a specific outcome is undeniably freeing. It’s palpable. It’s (in my opinion), the definition of presence, shaped and contorted into human form — time and space linger long enough to feel…amongst noise, stillness, and stimulus. In a moment of beautiful rarity, you become the vessel of music, movement, breath, and creation. And that’s pure aliveness. It’s medicine. It’s comfort. It’s home.
Thanks to The Artist’s Way practices, guided self-inquiry, and a newfound sense of listening without the filtered voice of egoic tendencies and the broken heart of not-enoughness, I have found my way back to my inner muse, the young girl who just loved to dance.
THE VISION
I want us to get lost dancing again.
Both literally and figuratively.
More than anything, I want to give you a practice space to reconnect with your inner artist and inner muse: yourself.
I want to give the permission (and curated space) to let minutes turn into hours in what you love doing most:
experiencing flow state
FOR FUN. FOR FEELING. FOR FREEDOM.
Don’t be alarmed when I say dance. What I really mean is: expressive movement, threaded together by yogic principles, self-inquiry practices, and the subtleties of musicality. My goal is for you to embody flow state practices with others and walk away with the unique ability to listen to yourself more clearly and confidently — all while understanding how creative energy is expressed and felt through the body. Movement takes many shapes and forms and can be expressed in infinite ways. Right or wrong becomes arbitrary. Trained or untrained no longer matters. The only thing that does matter is listening to the connection between music, breath, body, mind, and spirit and getting curious about where it may lead you.
Listen to deepen. Deepen to become alive.
Aliveness is the entry point to fully embodying yourself as a creative muse.
Feel. Breath. Be.
We will move, collaborate, and create together as a community to build a bridge between listening within and creative expression — all through the lens of the artistry of movement and reflective, spacious moments. Expect interactive workshops, co-creative sessions, tools and guidance for personal inquiry, time to journal, reflect, listen, and process. Most importantly, you are welcomed into a space that celebrates the allure and wonder of music in a way that is familiar to your body and medicine to your soul, all guided with the utmost intention and integrity by Mindy of Liberté.
For a small taste, I’ve included a sampled piece of music that makes me feel, listen, breathe, and move all in tandem with one another. When I close my eyes, I picture a symphony of fluid limbs — bending, coiling, retracting, and expanding gracefully through time and space as one. What do you picture?
Listen for yourself below
Travel with Liberté to the coast of Portugal, June 5 - 9th to rediscover your inner muse and how she may want to listen, express, and articulate the most universal language: movement.
Close your eyes and let the beat, beat, beat, beat consume you.
Feel the rise and fall of your chest as it turns into breath. breath. breath. breath.
Or let it turn into whatever you choose. Maybe the violin’s chords are putting you in a trance.
It’s up to you. Listen to whatever your muse hears and move accordingly.
Go where you feel the most inspired…towards inhibited movement
Feel safe where you feel the most alive…in your body

LISTENING
TO YOUR MUSE THROUGH MOVEMENT WILL GIVE YOU…
FREEDOM
Love, appreciation, acceptance, expression, and safety in the body. Where shame , judgment, and imperfection can override freely expressing, we celebrate the opposite, the release. This is a space for you to practice being in the moment of conscious movement, without the worry of the packaged ending of a performance.
Deeper understanding that you are the vessel for creative expression, not the end result
5 day, 4-night creative wellness retreat, meant for you to rediscover your inner muse through movement practices and guided self-inquiry. Hosted on the coast of Portugal, CASA COLAB is your creative oasis for uninterrupted creative living — moving intentionally is encouraged and celebrated through every inhale and exhale. Time slows down here.
The Musings of You retreat is curated by Mindy Fetzer of Liberté: creator, facilitator, and teacher of movement, language, and all things freedom.
JOY
Let minutes turn to hours in what you love getting lost in…movement. Creation. Energy. Soulfulness. Come back to your creative impulses and let the judgment of being seen, not good enough and getting it wrong dissipate as imperfection turns into the joy of being. Be playful. Feel in purpose. Feel the electric spark of aliveness.
Let yourself fall in love with the musing process. Allow yourself fall back in love with…you
CONNECTION
Through listening, movement, and self-inquiry cultivate a deeper relationship with your inner knowing. When you forge a strong bond with self (rid of distractions and impulses), you reap the benefits of stronger decision-making, boundary setting, healed wounds of enoughness, external validation, and perfectionist tendencies.
Feeling connected to flow state and nuanced process of self-evolution

Community connection and collaboration make our hearts beat fast. Hope it does the same for you and you bring along someone you know, value, and love.
-
We’re firm believers that rest and play are a part of the creative process. As Julia Cameron says: serious art is born from serious play. We can only assume you’re out of balance by working too much and playing too little. So, at CASA COLAB, we play.
This retreat is meant to reconnect you back to self through listening and rediscover creative urges and personal musings through movement.
We can only listen as deeply as email inboxes and social media scrolling allow. You are meant to unplug here, so please leave the laptop at home.

I AM MY OWN MUSE.
